At Allphases Fence & Pavers in New Smyrna Beach the team motto, "Together everyone achieves more," is more than just a catchy phrase, according to owners Shane and Michelle Miller.

At Allphases Fence & Pavers in New Smyrna Beach the team It's the lifeblood of their company and what makes Allphases employees feel like they are part of the family.

"Most of our guys have been working with us since we opened back in 2000," Ms. Miller said. "We really believe that teamwork is what leads to our success."

The Millers employ 35 people, fielding six work crews daily to serve Volusia, Flagler and Seminole counties with an average of 15 jobs underway most of the time. They support their employees both at work and off the job. Ms. Miller said their crew is like family and that makes a difference when it comes to making their clients' backyard visions come true.

Allphases does more than just install fences and place pavers. They have a 68,000-square-foot outdoor showroom on Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach displaying a variety of garden and backyard features from brick walks and decorative stone garden walls to gazebos, pergolas and trellises. They build outdoor fireplaces and water elements featuring fountains.

"We do it all," Mr. Miller said, "if it has to do with your yard, we can build it."

They install pavers in driveways, garden landscaping and pool decks and outdoor feature lighting. "We do Allphases of your project from concept to finished product," Ms. Miller said, "and we work with the customer on the design elements to make their vision a reality."

As a state-licensed building contractor, Mr. Miller specializes in outdoor living projects, such as kitchens and pizza ovens, paving driveways and patio pool decks, and a variety of fencing. He is a certified member of the International Concrete Institute and is the preferred contractor for pavers and fencing for Home Depot in Volusia and Seminole counties. Allphases achieved the highest customer award in Florida from Home Depot. They are an Active Yards dealer for fences.

"We are an authorized Belgard dealer," Ms. Miller said.

They are a family-owned Christian company, she said. "This is God's company, and we have been so blessed to be part of it."

Even with the Great Recession, they continued to grow and gain more business. "We are just the caretakers, God is running the company," she said. "We were blessed when so many companies were struggling."

Most of their business comes from referrals, but they also get business via their website at fenceandpavers.com and from walk-ins at their garden showroom. Customers generally have an idea of what they would like to do, but Allphases has an interactive design tool on the website that allows people to adjust features and colors to see what the finished product could be before they buy materials.

"We provide free estimates," Ms. Miller said. "We can come out to your home, take some measurements and work with you on the design. We have several tools to help you design your project and base the price on the job."

Customers can call (386) 423-9898 or stop by the office at 1300 Canal St. for an estimate.

Allphases is about giving back to the community, too, donating to high school teams and activities, participating in community events and donating labor and supplies to projects.

"We worked with Lindley's Nursery and Garden Center and Bountiful Earth Inc at The Hub on their outdoor garden," Ms. Miller said. "We donated the labor and supplies for the garden wall and the pavers in the walkways."

One of their most unique projects was the work they did for New Smyrna's 125th Anniversary Time Capsule in 2012 in front of City Hall.

"Because of our participation, we were able to put an item in the time capsule, so we put in a flash drive with information about our company and photos of some of the jobs we have done over the years." She wonders if, at the city's 200th anniversary when it is opened, there will be technology available to read the flash drive. "Maybe they will look back and laugh, but it's nice to know our work will still be around 75 years from now," Ms. Miller said.

Allphases also donated work on the Daytona Beach Bandshell, where they installed 100,000 square feet of pavers. They have worked with the New Smyrna Utilities Commission and city and county governments on community projects or putting up fencing around public utility services or municipal buildings. They do residential and commercial projects.

"We also can secure your backyard," Mr. Miller said. "We can install fencing to provide security for your family. We can design your backyard so it is a safe and secure environment for your children, even if you have a swimming pool."

"Everyone's favorite room is their backyard where you gather with friends and family and make memories that last a lifetime," Ms. Miller said. "We are all about making our customer's vision come true."
